The San Vito Lo Capo is one of the most popular climbing areas of Sicily. The cliffs, sun and surf! Over a thousand sport routes!
Italy. Sicily
Season: All Year

San Vito Lo Capo is one of the most popular climbing areas of Sicily. More than a thousand sports routes! It is popular, in part, because of the large number of routes of medium grades, and of course because of the special color of the area. But there are also quite complex lines. Climbers from Germany and Austria are engaged in the development of the area, thanks to them for the high-quality bolting!

When the swimming season ends, a climbing trip to Sicily becomes quite economical. 35 km from Palermo there is an airport, or you can get there by ferries from Naples or other mainland ports. In winter accommodation prices are significantly lower and there is a huge camping on the coast - El Bahira Camping Village. It is really a very large camping with houses and places for tents, streets, with a climbing shop and cafe. Cozy, shady oasis on the bare coast. Here you can rent equipment and get the latest information about the rocks.

Winter here is quite mild, on the shore is almost always windy and a lot of sun. However, sometimes the humidity makes it hard to work on serious projects. The hottest months are from June to August. The rest of the time it is quite comfortable, you can find the sector for any weather.

Geological formation – limestone: caves, pockets, stalactites and tufas. High quality bolting. Sectors one after another stretch along the entire West coast of Cape San Vito Lo Capo, this wall is on the sun all the day. The coastline is composed of volcanic sharp rock and there is no way to go down to the water, except for a tiny Bay near the sector “Spiagetta di Cala Mancina” and “Zoo”, in the Northern part of the Cape. The nearest beaches are in the city of San Vito Lo Capo and South, in Macari and Castelluzo. Near these towns there are remote from the sea, but also quite interesting walls. There is a sector with Deep water solo, “Cala Firriato”, in the Bay on the Eastern shore of the Cape. And the shady sector, “Rocca Firriato”.

Sicily has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. And in San Vito Lo Capo, the proximity of the sea and the silhouettes of the rocks give it a special mood.
